GROUP LESSONS SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT
• Rally organiser will organise appropriate group sizes dependent on assessed level, discipline and instructor’s request.
• Rally organiser will organise groups at riders’ similar assessed ability. In the case of non-assessed combinations, every attempt shall be made to group riders according to the level of experience and ability of the horse and rider combination. Members will be encouraged to be level assessed as soon as practical so that they can be paired with like-levelled combinations.
• Riders are to show courtesy to instructors, other members and volunteers at all times
• Riders must follow instructor’s directives at all times.
• Riders to be aware of the safety of other riders at all times, e.g. to give way to riders under instruction, acknowledge right of way during lessons etc.
• Riders to withdraw from lesson if their horse is impacting on other’s enjoyment of the lesson or if requested to do so by instructor.
MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT
As per BDFEG Membership application:
• That the values of the BDFEG Inc. are to encourage participation, to promote equestrian activities, to display good sportsmanship and to display excellent care of our horses.
• To provide help at a BDFEG competition days, If I am unable to attend myself I will arrange for someone else to do my duty for me. The committee will not be responsible for finding a replacement. I accept that if I do not provide help, my membership for the following year may not be accepted
• To wear an approved helmet when mounted and appropriate footwear at all times.
• That BDFEG uniform must be worn at all official HRCAV events. Whilst in uniform, members are representatives of the BDFEG and must conduct themselves in a manner reflective of the values of the club. Members are to be presented in a neat and tidy fashion, and to display good sportsmanship.
• To assist with the set up and/or pack up of equipment when participating at rallies.
• That any lessons cancelled less then 72hrs before start time will need to be paid for unless a replacement rider can be found.
• To show courtesy to instructors, other members and volunteers at all times.
• To be aware of the safety of other riders at all times, e.g. to give way to riders under instruction, acknowledge right of way during lessons etc.
PERMITTED SADDLERY AND EQUIPMENT
• Riders are solely responsible for the correct fit and safety of gear.
• Long or short riding boots MUST be worn at all times whilst mounted. Heavily rippled or blocked soles are not permitted.
• An approved equestrian helmet with a fixed harness MUST be worn at all times whilst mounted. The required standards for helmets at HRCAV competitions will be: • Current Australian standard AS/NZS 3838 (2006 onwards) provided they are SAI Global marked. • New Australian standard ARB HS 2012 provided they are SAI Global marked. • Current American standard ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards) provided they are SEI marked. • Current American standard SNELL E2001. • Current British standard PAS 015 (1998 or 2011) provided they are BSI Kitemarked. • Interim European Standard VG1 (01.040: 2014-12) with or without BSI Kitemark. • The EN 1384 (Europe) standard for helmets manufactured prior to 2016 – not approved after 1st January 2021
CANCELLATION OF RALLIES DUE TO WEATHER OR OTHER HAZARDS

When weather conditions have the potential to affect the health and safety of participants and/or welfare of horses at HRCAV events and activities, organisers are expected to take steps to reduce the risk of illness or injury. Decisions by a Club to cancel or modify an event where it can be shown that extreme weather conditions constituted a risk to health and safety are supported by the HRCAV. In the case of a Total Fire Ban day, the rally will be cancelled.
• Rally organiser to be guided by HRCAV policy.
• Instructors may advise if lessons will be cancelled.
• Lesson times may be modified or cancelled dependent on weather conditions e.g. in the case of predicted high temperatures.
DOGS AT RALLIES
Dogs are not permitted at club rallies or activities.

Covid19 Response:
• Current COVID regulations to be adhered to.
• QR Codes to be used.
Notifiable Horse Diseases
In the case of an ‘outbreak’ of a horse disease, stipulated guidelines from HRCAV and/or the Department of Agriculture will be adhered to. – note: Horse Venue Biosecurity Workbook can be down loaded by clicking the ‘Biosecurity’ tab on the AHIC website www.horsecouncil.org.au
FITNESS TO PARTICIPATE
A rider’s participation at a rally lesson is at the discretion of the instructor and rally organiser or in the case of other club activity at the discretion of the organiser(s). The decision will be supported by the Club and RMO. Members will be encouraged to be level assessed as soon as practical so that they can be paired with like-levelled combinations
